American Fast Food a Success or Failure in India…

Americans have proved themselves as Notorious yet Job creators for Indians in the Fast food/Junk food as Indians refer....

PIZZA
Let’s start from Pizza, before I could begin we have to investigate where did it originate, a small search in net will say that it’s an Italian invention and has thousands of years history in the making. As the new lands where discovered people started pouring in there i.e. N/S American Continent so did many Italians and they brought it to US as well…
Here in India too we get Pizza, but wait a minute Pizza came to India from US not from Italy where it originated(that’s quite interesting) and just couple of weeks back I was watching TLC channel which was airing exclusive top 10 Pizza that is available in US but to a shocker to me they did not show 'Pizza Hut or Pizza Corner or Domino's Pizza or Papa Johns Pizza'(which are all American Brands) but what they showed in the program is that they were the original authentic pizza makers from Italy Eg: (Giordano’s, Pizzeria Uno, etc etc)…. and in India we have corporatised pizza chains which is doing brisk business…..


Fried Chicken and Hamburgers.
As the name says it’s battered and deep fried in oil Chicken products that has won hearts of Indians…to name a few they are KFC, McDonald's and Burger King…..but the only drawback they have brought the American style of cooking the products which are Factory finished than making it in the Restaurant…like the chicken which is processed in Factories of large companies and it’s batter and even the Buns and Patties are Mass Manufactured in factories….i can damn assure if a chicken lover if he visits these factories where these products are made he'll definitely never visit these restaurants again….it due to the way they Mass make it….

Hot Dogs
Now the big question is why the Americans have not brought this super fast food to India and a website dedicated to this industry claims that Americans eat more than 20 billion hot dogs every year…! Let’s go the point what is a Hot dog…. After seeing the Hot dog pics in net i can say that it is a kind of Hamburger but a longer version of it with bun is long and there is Sausage(mostly made from combi of meat such as Beef and pork) which goes into it and u can add choice of your toppings…. and again these are Mass Factory Made…

Steaks and ribs in Barbecue
When we hear this it's damn sure that it’s either Cattle(Beef) or Hog(Pig)(Pork) products...but this is Taboo and forbidden for Indians…Neither Muslims will have Pork nor Hindus will have Beef…then it is Christians who are running the show for many Hard Rock Cafes and other Restaurant chains that is doing business in India….

India: The land of Maximum and plenty of Human Resources

Indian Population has crossed 1.2 Billion i.e. hundred and twenty crores plus of which more than 1/3 are involved in Agriculture and related services and obviously live in rural areas and this sector is key to our Economy.

Long time back while watching an International news channel and there was this news about rising fuel prices that is making Americans also feel the pinch and the news presenter presenting the topic, the lady who is reporting about the fuel price from somewhere in America, drives hercar into a fuel station, she herself fills the required quantity of petrol (Gas to be precise) and pays the money through some automatic device and leaves…. Now lets come to India here it’s totally different, you take your two or four wheeler into petrol bunk there the employees of the bunk will be ready to serve you and you just need to tell him how much petrol has to be filled and he’ll do the rest and one guy is totally dedicated to take cash from you and the buck doesn’t stop here in some cases one guy will wipe your glass shield while your car is being refreshed…and also do remember one guy is also there to take care of your tyre pressure…..!

…and now lets come to other news a leading newspaper had a article about expats living in India in that article it’s about a GERMAN couple who are happy with us.. why? as they have a housemaid who comes to her house early in the morning start doing household work for them and even take care with love to their small toddler and she would leave the house late in the night and that German lady is happy grihani(Housewife) as she won’t get a housemaid back home in Germany…and she even has a dedicated driver for their car who can communicate in English and available for full day to them…!

...and in my office a women employee who was amongst the first employees who has more than 10 years of experience and with a salary range of about 1.5 lac per month has a dedicated driver who comes to her residence early in the morning to pick her up and drop her at office and after that he is just a car cleaning robot who keeps cleaning her car till 6.30 and take her to her home in the evening and drop her at her residence and his day ends and he will leave for his home....and the driver is in the payroll of the company...!!!!!!!!
But in other foreign countries teens try as hard as possible to get a driving licence before they could come of age and enjoy the joy of Driving....!!!(Licence to Drive)the movie as i remember...!

Early exposure has its benefits

Today from a school going kid to elderly generation are aware of brand by the name of GOOGLE...!!! yes who has not heard about it.

The two young computer wizards LARRY PAGE and SERGEY BRIN who co founded this brand and company are the greatest gift to the people in the cyberworld, but do remember early exposure has its benefits.

when Larry was seriously thinking about computers and opportunities with computers, nevertheless in India at that time computers were not known to Indians even to the educated elite.

Larry’s father who is said to be a professor of computer science and the first person to get a PhD graduate in the university where he was employed and his mother who was also an employee of the university thought computer programming and Larry himself is said to have acknowledged that their house was usually a mess, with computers and computer magazines all over the place and has grown up playing and working with computers and he should be thankful to his parents and giving inspiration to take computers as career choice and stood always with him who where pioneers in computers.

It’s like in India a music composer’s son taking up career as musician and excelling even greater than his father.

English Language: Worlds Biggest and Greatest Brand

English Language is key to our indian economy today because all the developed nations are English Language speakers and it has become the standard language in almost every country for business...

It's a universal fact that Portuguese discovered sea route to India and they were the first to explore, settle and start trading with us(Indians), as news spread to other parts and countries in Europe the French came running(Sailing to be precise) here followed by Dutch and finally the English(British).

While Portuguese quietly settled down on the west coast of India as they had made the friendly approach with the British while Dutch voluntarily went back as Indians rejected them and French were routed by the British in the wars that followed to control the lands and trading in many commodities, the British were the people who went to the length and breadth of the country exploring rich exotic places and items that would be valued.

If the Portuguese went on to control most parts of India or as the British did till 1947 we would be in love with Portuguese language and we would always hop to Portugal, Brazil, and other Portugal controlled Colonies, Territories and Countries and we would have crazed about Pork Vindaloo and Chorizos...!!!!:)if the French would have been controlled us of course we would have made France as our new home and always shuttle between and would have made Foie Gras as our staple food...!!!:)

The uprising in northern India united the whole nation under them and if they have to retain the control they have to introduce their way of life and custom to Indians and that was English Language and Education system. Many Missionaries started schools (Educational Institutes) and that was the greatest gift to us from them!!!! Wherever they settled down, by the turn of the 20th century English was a way of life among Indians please don’t forget that Father of the nation was educated in Britain!

Today English flourishes in nations like United states, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and yes in India too… even a former Prime Minister of India always addressed our nation in English but never in Hindi which is our national language!
